Razorbacks Post Another Shutout

TULSA, Okla. – The Arkansas women’s soccer team put together another successful spring weekend Saturday afternoon in Tulsa. The Razorbacks played a trio of 30-minute halves against Oral Roberts and Central Oklahoma, winning each period by a 1-0 outcome.

The Razorbacks played the run of 90 minutes straight through, opening with Oral Roberts before playing Central Oklahoma for two periods. Through two weekends (180 minutes of play) of spring action, Arkansas has out-scored its opponents, 10-0.

“Today presented some challenges and I thought for the most part we did well with those,” said head coach Colby Hale. “We scored three goals from the run of play which is a point of emphasis for us this fall. We did a good job of taking what our opponents gave us and our pressing is starting to develop. As individuals we did well in reaching the performance objectives. There will be some areas that need attention, but overall it was a good day against two quality teams.”

A weekend removed from scoring at least two goals in each of its three 30-minute halves against Missouri State, Arkansas upped its streak to six straight periods with a score. Sophomore-to-be Stephanie Doyle recorded her second goal of the spring in the first match against Oral Roberts for the 1-0 win.

Senior-to-be Reid Sibley scored Arkansas’ first goal last weekend against Missouri State and provided the second score on Saturday in the first 30 minutes against Central Oklahoma off an assist from Katie Kienstra. Kienstra provided some more offense in the second 30-minute half against Central Oklahoma, this time finding the back off the net following a feed from Doyle.

Fans can get one more look at the Razorbacks next weekend when they host Kansas on Saturday, April 15, at 1 p.m. CT. Like Arkansas, Kansas is coming off a NCAA Tournament appearance and win in the fall.
