FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas’ football team worked out in helmets and shorts on Friday, the last of three required days the Razorbacks get a break from full gear.
They will be in full pads on Saturday, but due to a limited number of healthy offensive linemen, head coach Houston Nutt’s squad will not scrimmage as originally planned.
Friday’s work in shorts was to reinforce what the players have learned to this point, but Nutt was hoping for a better effort.
“We have to re-teach things sometimes when you say ‘just helmets’ because they think it’s a holiday,” he said. “We didn’t get as much done as we would have liked. We still want to go fast. Sometimes when you put on helmets and take off pads after a physical week, it’s easy to say ‘we’re not going to go very hard today.’ We didn’t get as much done as I would have liked, but we did get some polishing in.”
