Razorbacks Set For Central Regional Championships

LAWRENCE, Kan. – After four straight weeks of competition, the Arkansas women’s tennis team is set to continue its fall slate at the ITA Central Regional Championships, which will be held Oct. 19-23 at the Jayhawk Tennis Center and Sports Pavilion Lawrence in Lawrence, Kansas.

The University of Kansas will serve as host to student-athletes from 27 teams in the central region.

“We are excited for the Central Regional Championship,” head coach Michael Hegarty said. “We have been knocking on the door the past few years to get back to the finals, and we feel we can make some strong runs this year.”

The Razorbacks will have eight players competing in singles, including No. 1 seed and No. 36 ranked junior Ana Oparenovic, No. 3 seed and No. 62 ranked senior Leolia Jeanjean, No. 7 seed and No. 100 ranked sophomore Giulia Pairone, No. 11 seed senior Mia Jurasic, junior Agne Cepelyte, sophomore Jackie Carr, sophomore Natsuho Arakawa and freshman Tatum Rice.

No. 9 ranked Jeanjean and Pairone are the top seed in doubles, while Jurasic and Oparenovic are the No. 7 seed. The other Arkansas doubles duos will be Cepelyte/Arakawa and Rice/Carr.

Matches will begin with doubles at 9 a.m. CT Thursday. Matches will be played outdoors.
