Razorbacks To Host Game In Big 12/SEC Challenge

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s basketball team is set to play in the Big12/SEC Challenge for the fourth straight year in 2017-18, welcoming Oklahoma State to town on Saturday, Jan. 27 for a showdown in Bud Walton Arena.

The Razorbacks and Cowboys will tip it up for the second straight year and the 52nd meeting in the all-time series between the programs. Oklahoma State leads the series 37-14, including a victory last year in Gallagher-Iba Arena. Arkansas is 1-0 in the Big 12/SEC Challenge in Bud Walton Arena, knocking off Texas Tech 75-68 during the 2015-16 season.

For the third consecutive year, the challenge will be consolidated to one single day in January as a bye in the league schedule for participating teams was created to accommodate the format. The four SEC teams not participating will play each other in conference games the same day.

Game times and television networks will be announced at a later date, as eight of the 10 games will be televised on ESPN or ESPN2, while two contests will air on ESPNU. All 10 games will also be available via WatchESPN. ESPN’s College GameDay Covered by State Farm – the Saturday roadshow that discusses the top storylines of the college basketball season – will originate from one of the Challenge games.

Arkansas will be one of the most experienced teams in the country next season, returning six seniors, including three of its top five scorers in Daryl Macon, Jaylen Barford and Anton Beard. The Razorbacks also welcome the top three high school players in the state of Arkansas, as Daniel Gafford, Darious Hall and Khalil Garland make up a top 20 recruiting class according to ESPN.

The 2017-18 schedule is starting to take shape, as Arkansas will host Minnesota, Colorado State and Oklahoma State in Bud Walton Arena, while playing three premier opponents at the Phil Knight Invitational in Portland, Oregon, during the week of Thanksgiving. The Razorbacks will also play a return game against Houston at the Toyota Center.
