Razorbacks Travel To Oklahoma Regional
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 15 University of Arkansas men’s golf team will make its 25th NCAA Regional Championship appearance, including its 11th consecutive, as part of the 2018 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship field in Norman, Oklahoma, May 14-16.
The Razorbacks were selected as the No. 3 seed of the Norman Oklahoma Regional which will be hosted by the University of Oklahoma at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club. Arkansas is one of two Southeastern Conference schools at the site and one of 14 league teams in the postseason.

Format: Three rounds of stroke play with the top five teams from each of the six regional sites advancing to the NCAA Championship

This is Arkansas’ 11th consecutive regional appearance since head coach Brad McMakin took over the program. He has guided the Razorbacks to four runner-up finishes and six NCAA Championship appearances, including a runner-up performance in 2016.
Mason Overstreet, William Buhl, Alvaro Ortiz and Luis Gaza were among the Razorbacks who competed in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, regional last season. Overstreet played to a sixth-place finish and went on to an NCAA runner-up showing in 2017.
Ortiz leads this year’s team with a 70.8 stroke average followed by Overstreet with a 70.9 average. Garza and Buhl are third and fourth, respectively, shooting 72.3 and 72.5 on the year. Tyson Reeder will be making his first postseason appearance.
The rest of the field features eight conference champions including No. 1 seed and defending national champion Oklahoma, Auburn, Florida State, North Florida, Pepperdine, BYU, Virginia, San Diego State, Nevada, Sam Houston State, UMKC, Navy, and Prairie View A&M.
The six regional sites include Raleigh, N.C. (Lonnie Poole Golf Course, North Carolina State University, host); Bryan, Texas (Traditions Club, Texas A&M University, host); Columbus, Ohio (Scarlet Course/OSU Golf Course, The Ohio State University, host); Kissimmee, Florida (Reunion Resort, University of Central Florida, host); Norman, Oklahoma (Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club, University of Oklahoma, host); and Stockton, California (The Reserve at Spanos Park, University of the Pacific, host).
The 2018 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships will be broadcast for the fifth consecutive year by Golf Channel with more than 100 news and tournament hours planned again for the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships. The University of Arkansas will host the 2019 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships next spring at The Blessings.
