Razorbacks are victorious in Miami

MIAMI, Fla. — In the first day of play at the Miami Quad, the Razorbacks gathered three wins in singles play and two in doubles. Gregoire Lehmann defeated Juan Acuna of South Florida 6-1, 6-3, Nikolas Zogaj defeated Derek Madon of Florida Atlantic 6-4, 6-2, and Mike Nott was triumphant over Oliver Webb of Florida Atlantic 3-6, 6-3, 10-4.

Mike Ward, Nicholas Spinazze and Taj Harrison fell to Eduardo Pavia of Miami, Owen Long of Florida State, and Omar Ally of Miami, respectively.

“Those guys are battling against some very good players and they are holding they’re own,"said head coach Robert Cox."We are really proud of them and we look forwared to a good weekend and improving each day.”

In doubles competition Lehmann and Zogaj defeated Blake Davis and Anderson Reed of Florida State 8-3, and Spinazze and Ward defeated Jamal Adderly and Sebastian Hagn of South Florida 8-5.

At the ITA All-American tournament in Tulsa, Chris Nott fell to Matt Allare from Ohio State 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.

“I was really please with his play this week. I think he and Matt Hogan proved that they could play with the nation’s best,” said Cox.

Play will continue this weekend in the Miami quad, as all six players will compete again on Saturday.
