Razorbacks at U.S. Open

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — University of Arkansas swimmers Leah Pierce, Erin Neumann and Alison Templin travel to Federal Way, Wash. this week for the U.S. Open Swimming Championships, Aug. 4-8 at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.Pierce will compete in the 100 and 200 breast events for her hometown club, the Columbia Swim Club. In her first year with the Razorbacks, Pierce set an Arkansas record in the 100 breast with a time of 1:00.77 and earned All-America honors at the 2009 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.

A junior, Neumann will also swim the 100 and 200 breast events at the meet. One of the Razorbacks’ top competitors, Neumann, swimming for the Parkway Swim Club this week, set career best times in the 100 and 200 breast events at the Southeastern Conference Championships meet in 2009.

Competing in the 800 and 1500 freestyle events for the Razorbacks Aquatic Club, Templin made a strong debut in her freshman season at Arkansas, scoring seven top three finishes including a third place finish against then-No. 14 Southern Methodist.

All events at the U.S. Open are swam long-course meters.
