Razorbacks Focused on USC

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas football team turned in a sharp and focused practice Sunday afternoon in shells inside the Willard and Pat Walker Pavilion.

The Razorbacks spent just under an hour on the practice field making corrections, working on the kicking game and fine-tuning the game plan for sixth-ranked Southern California. The Hogs and Trojans are slated to kickoff the 2006 season at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at Donald W. Reynolds Razorbacks Stadium.

“We had a very good mental day today,” Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt said. “We came back out here and went to work. We had a few corrections that we went over, a couple sections of kicking, and then we went right into group. We are working on USC, and what they do offensively and defensively.”

Sophomore quarterback Casey Dick was able to get a little practice time in on Sunday as he continues rehabilitation on his back.

“Casey got two or three periods in,” Nutt said. “He did some individual work and some timing with the receivers. It was good to see him back out there.”

Nutt was optimistic that linebacker Weston Dacus would be able to return to the practice field on Tuesday, after missing several workouts with a sprained ankle.

Arkansas will take Monday off before returning to the practice field on Tuesday.
