Razorbacks Look To Close Fall On High Note At Isleworth

WINDERMERE, Fla. — Coming off a team win at the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate just five days ago, the No. 20 University of Arkansas men’s golf team will close out its fall campaign at the competitive Isleworth Collegiate Invitational against a 15-team field that includes eight teams currently ranked in the top 25 of the Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches Poll. The Razorbacks will open the three-day event at Isleworth Golf and Country Club in Windermere, Fla., on Sunday at 9:25 a.m. when they play alongside No. 3 California and No. 19 UCF. Live scoring from the par 72, 7387-yard course is available through www.GolfStat.com or www.ArkansasRazorbacks.com, while in-round Twitter updates can be found by following @RazorbackMGolf. Making the trip to the sunshine state for Arkansas is the five-man lineup of senior Sebastian Cappelen, junior Thomas Sorensen, redshirt sophomore Kolton Crawford and sophomores Taylor Moore and Nicolas Echavarria. It marks the second time the lineup has been used this fall, while Cappelen, Crawford and Moore will take part in their fifth straight tournament. The three-day, 54-hole format is just the second of the season and first since the season-opening event for the Razorbacks, as they have produced an under-par team score in three of the last five rounds. Most recently at the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate, Arkansas erased a 14-stroke deficit heading into the second round with a three-under 285 and four-under 284 en route to its 18th win under head coach Brad McMakin. Cappelen highlighted Arkansas’ win at Crooked Stick, as he made it four straight years with an individual win. For the fourth time in his career, Cappelen carded three straight under-par rounds at a 54-hole event, taking home medalist honors by three strokes. Cappelen enters the fall finale with top 20 finishes in eight consecutive tournaments, dating back to last year, and leads the team in stroke average (71.4), under-par rounds (7) and pars (140). Moore put together his second top 10 of the season in his last outing, finishing with a two-under 70 in the final round. Moore, who will play in his 50th straight team round, sports a 73.6 stroke average this season and leads the squad with 41 birdies. Junior Thomas Sorensen entered the lineup after the first event and has provided a huge spark with three consecutive top 15s, including a pair of top 10s. Sorensen has been Arkansas’ low-man in six of nine rounds played, culminating in a 71.7 stroke average. The third Razorback to play in every event so far, Crawford has turned in a counting score in 10 of 12 rounds and is coming off his best finish at Crooked Stick (T-25th). Echavarria returns to the lineup for the third time, sporting the same 75.0 stroke average as Crawford.
