FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas football team had 13 different players selected to Phil Steele’s preseason All-American or preseason All-SEC team, it was announced Saturday.
Head coach Bobby Petrino’s team had four players named preseason All-Americans, and 13 players earned 14 spots on the preseason All-SEC teams. The Razorbacks tied for second in the SEC with four All-Americans and with five first-team All-SEC selections.
Steele named wide receiver Greg Childs, defensive end Jake Bequette and linebacker Jerry Franklin to the All-American Third Team, while wide receiver Joe Adams was recognized as the fourth-team All-American punt returner.
Bequette, Franklin, Childs and Adams also were named preseason first-team All-SEC performers by Phil Steele, with Adams getting the first-team nod at wide receiver and punt returner. Running back Knile Davis, quarterback Tyler Wilson, linebacker Jerico Nelson and safety Tramain Thomas were named to the All-SEC Second Team, where they were joined by both Arkansas specialists, kicker Zach Hocker and punter Dylan Breeding. Wide receiver Jarius Wright and offensive guard Alvin Bailey earned third-team All-SEC recognition, while defensive end Tenarius Wright garnered fourth-team all-conference acknowledgement.
