Razorbacks Start Strong During Monday Practice

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas football team opened its game-week preparation Monday with a 90-minute workout as the Razorbacks get ready for Friday’s game at No. 1 LSU. Head coach Houston Nutt was pleased with the effort of his players and liked what he saw on the practice field.

“The offense stayed outside under the lights and played very fast,” Nutt said. “The defense went inside and they had a good day, so it’s a good start of preparation for LSU.”

Felix Jones practiced and Nutt said the junior tailback has been receiving treatment for his injured thigh and will be available for the final game of the Hogs’ regular season.

“(Felix is) going to be there ready to go,” Nutt said. “No one wanted to play (against Mississippi State) more than Felix and all he did was encourage and cheer lead the entire game for his teammates, so that’s what you love about Felix Jones”

Cornerback Michael Grant also worked out with the team Monday and Nutt said he was doing much better. Jerell Norton and Malcolm Sheppard sat out of practice resting injuries sustained during the Hogs’ win over Mississippi State Saturday. Nutt said it’s just that time of year where bodies are sore and bruised and need some rest during the week.

The Razorbacks are set to return to the practice fields Tuesday to continue their preparation for LSU. The game will be televised on CBS with coverage beginning at 1:30 p.m. CT. Log on to www.hogwired.com for more news about Arkansas football.
