FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas volleyball team will play in front of a national television audience as part of the ESPNU Wednesday Night Women’s Volleyball schedule during the 2011 season. The Razorbacks will play host to LSU on Oct. 26 at Barnhill Arena. First serve of the Western Division matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m. (CT). This is the second season of the network’s Wednesday Night Women’s Volleyball.
The midweek match between Arkansas and LSU will mark the end of the first round of Southeastern Conference play. The two teams met in an ESPNU televised match last season in Baton Rouge. Entering the 2011 season, the Razorbacks hold a 22-14 advantage in the all-time series with LSU. The Tigers are the defending Western Division champions.
Arkansas begins its 2011 season Aug. 26-27 with its home tournament which will also feature Colorado State, Middle Tennessee and McNeese State; Colorado State and Middle Tennessee were NCAA Tournament teams last year. In addition to the match with LSU, the Razorbacks’ home schedule features 14 dates, including 10 SEC matchups. The team will also host Oral Roberts in a non-conference match.
Overall, coverage of the 2011 women’s volleyball season across ESPNU and ESPNU2 will include 17 matches, 11 of which feature a ranked team. The six matches televised for the SEC is the most among the nation’s conferences. The regular season schedule will also feature four Big 12, three Big 10, two ACC matches and one apiece for the Big East and WAC. Every match during the Wednesday Night Women’s Volleyball run will be available in high definition.
