FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas men’s basketball team will play the Tennessee Volunteers in the first round of the 2011 Southeastern Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament it was determined on Sunday afternoon. Arkansas, the No. 4 seed in the Western Division will take on the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Division Tennessee by virtue of tiebreakers that were determined following the Kentucky-Tennessee game played on Sunday.
Arkansas and Tennessee will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, on a game televised by the SEC Network. The winner of the Thursday matchup moves on to play the top seed in the East, Florida, on Friday, March 11, at 6:30 p.m.
The Razorbacks defeated the Tennessee Volunteers in their first Southeastern Conference game of the season at Bud Walton Arena, 68-65. Senior Delvon Johnson led the Razorbacks in scoring with 17 points and added three blocks in the contest while Rotnei Clarke scored 15 points and Marshawn Powell added 14. Tennessee freshman Tobias Harris led all scorers with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
