@RazorbackSB Shut Out by No. 5 LSU

BATON ROUGE, La. – The University of Arkansas softball team lost game two of its Southeastern Conference opening series, falling 6-0 to No. 5 LSU Saturday evening at Tiger Park. The Razorbacks drop to 12-9, 0-2 SEC and will look to pick up a win in the series finale Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Sunday’s game will be televised on the SEC Network.

LSU remains undefeated this season with a record of 24-0, 2-0 SEC.

Arkansas has been held scoreless in both games so far this weekend against the Tigers. Sophomore Jessica Harrison accounted for two of the team’s four hits Saturday, reaching on a single in both the fifth and seventh innings. Arkansas put plenty of balls in play, striking out just four times, but could not find the gaps.

The Razorbacks fell behind early after a solo home run in the first inning by Bianka Bell off starter Allison Stewart gave LSU a 1-0 lead. LSU would add two more runs in the third inning as a two-out double brought home a pair of runners who reached via singles. Stewart took the loss (4-3), pitching four innings, giving up four hits and three earned runs. Grace Moll entered in relief in the fifth inning, holding the Tigers from scoring further until the sixth inning. Four Tiger hits and two Arkansas errors allowed LSU to plate three more in the home half of the sixth, however, only one of those runs was earned.
