FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas women’s golf team continues to shoot up the rankings and play well — a trend they hope to continue this weekend at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
ARKANSAS’ TOURNAMENT HISTORY This is the @RazorbackWGolf team’s third consecutive appearance at the event which is just three year’s old. The first year, teams battled rough conditions and played just two rounds when the second day was rained out. Arkansas tied for 11th overall shooting 305-312=617. Last year Arkansas moved up into a tie for fifth play shooting 293-298-298=889 as the SEC dominated the event. Alabama won with LSU and Vanderbilt tying for second. Then juniors Emily Tubert and Emma Lavy both played well earning top-10 finishes. Tubert finished eighth overall with a 218 while Lavy was tied for ninth with a 219.
ABOUT THE FIELD Another top-flight field awaits Arkansas at the Long Cove Club, a par 71, 6,142-yard course. In addition to the fourth-ranked Razorbacks the field includes NO. 3 Duke, No. 5 Oklahoma, No. 6 Arizona State, No. 7 Stanford, No. 8 Alabama, No. 13 South Carolina, No. 14 Vanderbilt, No. 21 LSU, No. 23 Wake Forest, No. 24 Kentucky all inside the top 25. The rest of the field includes No. 27 Auburn, No, 91 Furman, No. 47 Georgia, No. 28 North Carolina, and No. 29 Virginia.
ABOUT THE COURSE The event takes place at Long Cove Club, a par 71, 6,142 yard course at Hilton Head Island, S.C. The front nine is par 36 playing 3,153 yards and the back nine a par 35 at 2,989 yards. Teams tee off at 8 a.m. each day in intervals.
