BOULDER, Colo. – The Arkansas women’s tennis team wrapped up play on Sunday in Boulder, Colo., at the Colorado Invitational and claimed a win in singles consolation play.
Junior Nicole Breaux defeated Utah’s Elena Najera-Salas in three sets, 6-3, 6-7(6), 6-1. Freshman Peyton Jennings took home runner-up in her flight after she fell in the championship match to Brittany Yang of Liberty, 6-4, 6-1.
“It was a good finish to an important tournament for our development,” head coach Michael Hegarty said. “Nicole came through with her best effort of the event. Today’s matches really all boiled down to effort.”
Overall for the four-day tournament, the Razorbacks claimed five wins – two in doubles and three in singles.
Continuing the fall season, sophomore Shannon Hudson will be competing in the 2014 Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif., beginning Oct. 2. The team will be back in action the weekend of Oct. 10-12 as they will compete in two tournaments simultaneously, the Stephen F. Austin Invitational and the Virginia Cavalier Invitational.
