FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas women’s tennis team resumes its fall slate of tournaments this weekend as it heads to Boulder, Colo., to compete in the Colorado Invitational. The four-day tournament will be held Sept. 25-28 at the South Campus Tennis Complex.
Host Colorado, along with Liberty, Southern Illinois, New Mexcio, Utah, and Arkansas make up the six-team field. A total of four singles brackets as well as a doubles draw will be contested. Play will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday.
“We will look to carry our momentum forward from Oklahoma last week and try to produce some more quality results,” head coach Michael Hegarty said.
The Razorbacks are scheduled to have four players competing this weekend including juniors Flavia Araujo and Nicole Breaux, sophomore Elly Fryberger and freshman Peyton Jennings.
Araujo owns a 4-2 singles record and a 3-4 doubles record already this fall as she will be competing in her third tournament. She recently captured her singles flight championship at the Oklahoma Sooner Invitational last weekend.
Breaux too has competed in all three tournaments of the fall so far, owning a 2-5 singles record and a 3-4 doubles record.
Fryberger will be making her first appearance this fall as a Razorback after transferring from Kansas. She will also have the opportunity to compete in her home state as she attended Arapahoe High School in Littleton, Colo.
Jennings will be competing in her second fall tournament after tallying a 1-3 singles mark last weekend in Oklahoma.
