@RazorbackWTEN Wins Three Matches On Day One Of Brown Classic

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Arkansas women’s tennis team claimed three overall victories on the first day of play from the Brown Classic in Providence, R.I., on Friday. Sophomore Nastassia Rubel accounted for two of those wins as she collected both a doubles and a singles victory.

Rubel teamed with junior Makenzie Craft to defeat Brown’s Hannah Camhi and Ashley Noyes, 8-3. In her singles match, Rubel trailed in the first set but was able to successfully fight off six set points from Ammu Mandalap of Brown. Rubel would go on to claim the first set and win the match in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3.

In other doubles action, the combination of freshmen Mia Jurasic and Peyton Jennings took down Brown’s Sarah Kandath and Mariska Chamdani, 8-5.

“Today was clearly a solid day all around,” head coach Michael Hegarty said. “We were super sharp and composed in doubles. Lots of room for improvement in singles the next two days. Credit Nastassia for saving six set points in her singles victory.”

Play from the Brown Classic will resume Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
