FAYETTEVILLE – The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its 2014 All-Academic Team this week which included 12 members of the University of Arkansas women’s track and field team. The Razorbacks were represented by Taylor Ellis-Watson, Alex Gochenour, Kirsten Hesseltine, Grace Heymsfield, Paige Johnston, Jessica Kamilos, Keri McClary, Sandi Morris, Tamara Myers, Danielle Nowell, Diane Robison and Megan Zimlich.
Ten (10) of the Razorbacks’ 12 academic selections also earned USTFCCCA All-America accolades in their respective events during the 2013-14 track and field season. Heymsfield was an NCAA indoor champion with the distance-medley relay in March while she (mile/indoor, 3KSC/outdoor), Sandi Morris (PV/outdoor) and Diane Robison (5K/outdoor) were also SEC champions this season.
Arkansas was one of 12 programs in the nation to have 10 or more student-athletes earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. Overall, the Southeastern Conference (SEC) led the country with 91 selections.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher. For the indoor season, the student-athlete must have finished in the top 96 in an individual event or in the top 48 in a relay event. For the outdoor season, the student-athlete must have participated in any round, including Preliminary, of the NCAA Championships.
