Rebel Classic this weekend

FAYETTEVILLE– The University of Arkansas men’s tennis team will continue the 2009 fall season this weekend at the Rebel Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. Arkansas head coach Robert Cox hopes to continue to build on the Razorback’s success this season, with an impressive, 54-39 overall record.

Dmitry Lebedev, Matt Walters, Bradwin Williams and Nikolas Zogaj are scheduled to compete for the Razorbacks this weekend. This will be the third year for Arkansas to attend UNLV’s Rebel Classic.

The Razorbacks are coming off a strong appearance at the Wilson/ITA Central Regional Championships, in Tulsa, Okla. Highlighting the tournament, Lebedev advanced to the round of 16 with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Matheus Pereira of Wichita State and Tommy McGeorge of Iowa, 6-0, 6-1. Walters defeated Chris Eriksson of SLU, 7-6(4), 6-1, to advance to the round of 32. The No. 59 ranked Christopher Amueller defeated both Arkansas players Walters and Lebedev for a spot in the finals.

The Razorbacks will take the courts against opponents from host team UNLV, No. 67 Pacific, No. 24 Arizona, Cal Poly, Idaho, Northern Arizona and Fresno Pacific.

First serve is set for 9 a.m. PT Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex with one flight of doubles followed by two flights of singles.
