Red Defeats White In Inter-Squad Meet

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas swimming and diving team held its annual Red-White inter-squad meet Friday afternoon, with the Red team defeating the White team 133-101.

The Red squad won a total of eight events to White’s five. White jumped ahead, taking two of the first three events, but Red recovered, winning seven of the final 11.

The Red team opened the meet, willing the 200 medley relay behind the team of freshman Katiana Porporis, junior Madison Strathman, senior Olivia Weekley and junior Erin Kelly in a time of 1:45.24.

Freshman Peyton Palsha picked up the White team’s first win of the meet in the 1000 free in a time of 10:07.43.

Sydney Angell and Olivia Weekley tied for the most individual wins with two each. Angell claimed the 200 breast (2:20.71) and 200 IM (2:07.28) for the White team, while Weekley won the 50 free (23.77) and the 100 free (51.86) for the Red team.

Arkansas gets back in the pool on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. to start its season against SMU at the HPER Natatorium.
