Red downs White

FAYETTEVILLE – Sophomore Sarah Watkins scored 16 and junior Lyndsay Harris added 11 as the Red Team defeated the White Team, 39-21, in Bud Walton Arena Friday.

"Our chemistry is getting better every day," Harris said. "The Red-White is a lot like practice but yet it feels so game-like with the fans and crowd. It was a lot of fun."

The Razorback women took part in the annual scrimmage which was followed by the men’s game. This year, Arkansas head coach Tom Collen skewed the teams a bit this year with the returners playing mostly for the Red Team.

"I was pleased with the effort tonight," Collen said. "The Red Team came out well. It’s going to be important to come out this season and get out to a quick start. We could have played a little better defense but overall I was pleased."

The Razorbacks played 20 minutes of basketball with limited stops. During that time, the Red Team was 15-for-28 hitting 53.6 percent of their shots. The White Team was 9-for-29 with six points from junior Jamesha Townsend and five from senior Skye Rees.

Arkansas continues practice in the coming weeks until hosting Missouri Southern in the lone exhibition game Nov. 3.
