FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas men’s and women’s basketball teams will hold their annual red-white scrimmages on Friday, Oct. 22, free to the public, at Bud Walton Arena beginning at 7:15 p.m.
The red-white games are the first opportunity for fans to get a glimpse of Arkansas’ 2010-11 basketball teams as they gear up for what should be another exciting season of basketball at Bud Walton Arena. Doors for the event open at 6:30 p.m. with the women taking the court for warm ups at 7:15 p.m. Shooting contests with both squads will break up the action before the men’s team takes the court at 8:25 p.m.
The Razorback women are poised for an exciting season in 2010-11. Arkansas returns All-Southeastern Conference candidates Lyndsay Harris and C’eira Ricketts as well as the team’s leading rebounder from a year ago, Ashley Daniels. Arkansas opens with a five-game home stand giving fans a good look at this year’s team.
The Razorback men added four players to their 2009-10 squad including two of the highest rated defending guards in the 2010 recruiting class in Rickey Scott and Mardracus Wade. Veterans like junior sharpshooter Rotnei Clarke and sophomore All-SEC player Marshawn Powell give the Razorbacks experience to go along with its youth which should lead to an exciting brand of basketball at the Basketball Palace of Mid-America. Arkansas’ men’s regular season schedule features 18 games at Bud Walton Arena beginning on Nov. 18 against Grambling State.
