FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — On Monday afternoon the celebrity coaches for the Arkansas Men’s Basketball Red-White game met at Bud Walton Arena to pick teams for the event which is slated for Tuesday night, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. inside Bud Walton Arena.
The event is free to the public and fans will get a better idea of what the Razorbacks are bringing to the table for the 2012-13 season after several weeks of workouts in Mike Anderson’s second year at the helm.
Returning to coach the White team after a victory in the 2011 game is Bob Holt of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette. He will be joined in the huddle by Robbie Neiswanger of the Arkansas News Bureau. Coaching the Red team are Little Rock radio personalities Shawn Arnell of “The Shawn Arnell Show” and former Razorback Pat Bradley of “The Zone.”
Following a coin toss, the newspaper writers were given the first pick of this year’s game and chose BJ Young, placing Rickey Scott on the radio team. Arkansas’ coaching staff paired players together to help ensure a quality game. With their first pick, the Red team snagged Marshawn Powell, giving Alandise Harris to the White squad. Each team made three additional picks to fill out their rosters.
Doors to Bud Walton Arena will open at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. tip. The Red-White game is the first of two Razorback men’s basketball events this week as the team plays its first exhibition game of the 2012-13 season on Friday night against Southwest Baptist also at 7 p.m.
Season tickets for Razorback Men’s Basketball are currently on sale at the Razorback Ticket Center by calling 1-800-982-HOGS (4647) or by visiting the Arkansas website at www.ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
