RICHARD BELL & BILLY MICHAEL - HONORARY CAPTAINS FOR SOUTH CAROLINA GAME

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas is proud to announce former Razorbacks Richard Bell and Billy Michael as the Old Spice honorary captains for the South Carolina-Arkansas football game on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The University of Arkansas Men’s Athletic Department will present an honorary captain for each Fayetteville home game this season. Each honorary captain will be honored prior to the game on the field, recognized on the SmartVision and will accompany the Razorback captains to midfield for the coin toss. The honorary captain will also appear at the Legends Tent presented by Old Spice and Spectrum Brands in the AT&T Trough approximately 90 minutes before game time.Billy Michael and Richard Bell were captains on Coach Frank Broyles’ first Razorback team in 1958. Bell played high school football for the legendary Wilson Matthews at Little Rock Central while Michael played at Blytheville High School under Arkansas Hall of Famer Bill Stancil.Bell lettered in 1957 and 1958. He caught 12 passes for 241 yards and one touchdown during his career, including an 80 yard touchdown pass from James Monroe in 1958. Michael was an offensive lineman and lettered in 1956, 1957 and 1958. Both Michael and Bell were long time college coaches following their playing days. Michael coached with Barry Switzer at Oklahoma. Bell’s college coaching career including one season as head coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks in 1982.- HOGS –
