Ricketts earns SEC honor

FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas junior C’eira Ricketts earned Southeastern Conference Player of the Week honors after leading the Razorbacks to a pair of road wins last week.

Ricketts, a 5-9 junior guard from Louisville, Ky., helped Arkansas remain perfect running the team’s record to 9-0 with wins at Texas-Arlington and at Utah last week.

"We are excited for C’eira and our program to have an SEC Player of the Week," Arkansas head coach Tom Collen said. "There are so many great players in this conference and it is very difficult to win these awards. C’eira is healthy and focused and has taken her game to another level and it’s nice to see her efforts rewarded."

Ricketts recorded her first double-double of the year with a season-best 11 rebounds and 19 points against the Utes. She hit a clutch free throw near the end of the UTA game giving Arkansas a four-point advantage with 0:17 remaining in the game.

Ricketts averaged 16.0 points-per-game, 7.5 rebounds-per-game, 2.5 assists-per-game and 2.0 steals-per-game last week.

The Razorbacks are out to the second-best start in program history but break from competition this week focusing on final exams. Arkansas returns to the court Dec. 16, hosting Oral Roberts in the first of two games before the holidays.
