Ricketts earns SEC Player of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas junior guard C’eira Ricketts earned Southeastern Conference Player of the Week honors the league office announced today.

The honor is the second of the season for Ricketts, a Louisville, Ky., native. She earned a league record five SEC Freshman of the Week honors in 2008-09.

"C’eira has had a great week of basketball," Arkansas head coach Tom Collen said. "She was solid and did a lot of things in addition to scoring. She played two very complete games and was a leader on and off the floor for us. It’s great to see her recognized for her efforts.

"We are obviously excited for C’eira," he continued. "It’s the second time this year and it’s a sign of her maturity that she can put together back-to-back games and play consistenly. She has arrived at a point in her career where she is able to reach her expectations. When C’eira plays at a high level and Lyndsay (Harris) plays at a high level like they did against Oklahoma, we are capable of playing with anyone in the country."

Ricketts paced Arkansas to a perfect 11-0 record this week with wins over Oral Roberts and No. 12 Oklahoma. She tied her season-best with 21 points against the Sooners. Ricketts posted her second-best shooting performance in that contest, shooting 52.9 percent and added a season-high five steals.
