Ricketts, Watkins, Daniels honored this week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — University of Arkansas seniors C’eira Ricketts and Ashley Daniels along with junior Sarah Watkins were selected to the CollegeSportsMadness.com SEC All-Conference Team, the website announced recently. Ricketts, a Louisville, Ky., native, was one of five first-team selections while Watkins and Daniels earned second-team honors. The website is selecting their preseason all-conference teams from every league and previewing their top 44 selections leading up to opening weekend. The official Southeastern Conference Coaches and Media preseason polls will be released next week. “We are excited for the recognition for all these young ladies,” Arkansas head coach Tom Collen said. “C’eira and Sarah are obvious choices, but the selection for Ashley is very special. She has been the overlooked player for years in her recruiting class and is very deserving of this mention. No one in our program works harder every day than Ashley.” Ricketts finished her junior year as the Razorbacks’ scoring leader averaging 13.9 ppg. She played and started every game and led the team with 472 points scored. Watkins, a Germantown, Tenn., native, was second on the team with 13.5 ppg and 458 points scored. She too, was a 34-game starter at post and averaged 5.6 rpg, ranking second for Arkansas. Daniels hails from Coldwater, Miss., and led Arkansas with 7.5 rpg and 248 total boards as a junior last year. Daniels missed one game due to injury but averaged 29.9 minutes per contest while scoring 274 points for an 8.3 ppg average. The Razorbacks are in the midst of preseason practices before hosting Newman University Nov. 2, in the program’s only exhibition contest of the season. Season tickets are on sale on-line at ArkansasRazorbacks.com and from the Razorback Ticket Center at 800-982-HOGS.
