Rippee, Pamphile Voted Team Captains

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – As voted by their teammates, junior setter Rachel Rippee and sophomore middle blocker Elizabeth Pamphile will serve as team captains for the 2018 season. The Razorbacks open their year this week with an Aug. 24 home match against Kansas.

During her sophomore campaign, Rippee finished second in the SEC and 21st in the country with 11.23 assists per set and became just the fourth setter in program history—first since 2003—to reach 1,300 assists in a single season. She registered 50 or more assists in 11 matches last season including a career-best 59 assists on three occasions. Rippee was an AVCA All-South Regional Honorable Mention performer and was twice named the SEC Setter of the Week.

Pamphile started all 30 matches as a freshman and contributed 2.50 points per set. From the middle, she tallied 10 or more kills coupled with a .300 or higher hitting percentage in seven matches. The Orlando, Fla., native established a career best of 12 kills in four matches, three of those against SEC opponents. Defensively, she posted at least four blocks in 10 matches including a season-high seven blocks in two matches. Pamphile spent part of the summer with the U.S. Collegiate National Team that traveled to Detroit.
