Rochelle joins Lady Razorbacks as director of development

FAYETTEVILLE – Dr. Sean Rochelle joins the University of Arkansas Women’s Athletics Department as the director of development, UA Women’s Athletics Director Bev Lewis announced today.

A former associate director for corporate and foundation relations at the University, Rochelle brings a wealth of experience in both the athletic and academic fields to the position.

“Sean is a highly motivated person and we are excited that we can add him to the Lady Razorback staff,” Lewis said.

Rochelle takes over the day-to-day activities for the Lady Razorback Foundation, the primary fund-raising element for the Women’s Athletics Department. He will replace former director of development Wayne Stehlik.

Rochelle spent the past year working in the University administration, but as a product of nearby Elkins, Ark., and a former member of the men’s athletics department’s staff is a familiar face around the campus.

Prior to returning to Arkansas, Rochelle spent the past five years at Azusa Pacific University. Among his work at Azusa Pacific, he was the chair of the department of exercise and sport science.

A two-time academic all-America football player at Arkansas-Monticello, Rochelle quarterbacked the Boll Weevils to their only 10-win season in school history. Named the co-offensive player of the year of the Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference in 1988, he set a single season record with 98 points scored.

Before shifting to an academic and administrative career, Rochelle served as a graduate assistant football coach at Arkansas and Clemson. He also served as an assistant coach at UAM before traveling west to Azusa Pacific.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from UAM, then received his masters in 1989 and his Ed.D. in 1999 from Arkansas.

Rochelle and his wife, Caroline, have a 10-month-old daughter, Abigail.
