Roy Wittke Named UA Quarterbacks Coach and Pas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Eastern Illinois’ Assistant Head Coach Roy Wittke has been named as the new quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator at the University of Arkansas it was announced by UA head football coach Houston Nutt on Monday.
Wittke, 43, has spent the past 13 seasons at Eastern Illinois serving as the assistant head coach, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks and running backs coach. The Panthers are coming off back-to-back Ohio Valley Conference championships (2001, 2002) and three-consecutive Division I-AA playoff appearances. Just last month, Wittke was named the 2002 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division I-AA Assistant Coach of the Year.
“I’m thrilled with the opportunity to work for an outstanding head coach and more importantly an outstanding person in Houston Nutt,” Wittke said. “To be able to join a program that is a legitimate national championship contender as well as a top 25 team year in and year out is a dream come true. Arkansas has a rich football tradition and I’m looking forward to being a part of a special football program.”
