OZARK, Mo. – Randyn Saner broke a 9-9 tie in the bottom of the 12th inning with a pinch-hit single that scored Ryan Howard and earned Southwest Missouri State a 10-9 win over Arkansas Tuesday night before 1,693 at Price Cutter Park.
The Bears (17-10) broke a two-game losing streak and won for the fourth time in their last five games against the Razorbacks (16-18), who fell two games below the .500 mark for the first time this season.
Saner’s hit made a winner of SMS hurler Bob Zimmerman (3-1), who struck out three in 3 2/3 innings of scoreless, hitless relief. Jeremy Rankin (2-2) came out of the UA bullpen to retire the Bears in order in the 11th inning but gave up a leadoff double to Howard in the 12th and loaded the bases with no outs before giving up Saner’s game-winning single.
