FAYETTEVILLE – Raymariely Santos, a member of the University of Arkansas volleyball team, was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office Monday morning. From her setter position, Santos directed the team to a pair of wins against Alabama and Mississippi State, the Razorbacks’ first weekend sweep of the SEC season.
Over the course of two matches, Santos dished out an impressive 12.43 assists per set during Arkansas’ home sweep. In the four-set win over Alabama in the weekend opener, she turned in her second double-double performance of the season with 49 assists and 10 digs. One off her career high, 49 assists are the third most in an SEC four-set match this season.
Santos finished Sunday’s straight-set win over Mississippi State with 38 assists, the second-highest total in a conference three-set match this season. She added five digs and three total blocks against the Bulldogs. The win for Arkansas stretched its winning streak to three matches. In the decisive games of each match this weekend, she set the team to a .311 hitting percentage against Alabama and a .390 hitting percentage against Mississippi State.
