Schultz named interim diving coach for Lady Razorbacks

FAYETTEVILLE – Former coach Dale Schultz has returned as the interim diving coach for the University of Arkansas swimming and diving team, head swim coach Jeff Poppell announced today.

Schultz replaced Scott Reich as the Lady’Backs’ diving coach earlier this month. Schultz will be on the deck this weekend at the NCAA Zone Diving Meet in Houston, Texas.

“We’re thrilled to have Dale available to help us through the conclusion of this competitive season,” Poppell said.

Arkansas has three divers set to compete at the zone meet, juniors Madison Palmer, Kellyn Williams and Hilaire Wilson.

Schultz served as the Lady’Backs’ diving coach for 11 seasons from the early 1990s until his departure prior after the 1999-2000 season to enter private business. Reich joined Arkansas for the 2002-03 season.

During his 11 seasons at Arkansas, Schultz was one of the top diving coaches in the conference, winning the SEC Diving Coach of the Year honor in 1993. He coached three Lady’Back all-Americans to a total of six all-America awards. Schultz also coached Razorback all-Americans, including the 1994 NCAA runner-up, Tom Caruso. Prior to Arkansas, he was at Northern Michigan where he coached five Division II all-Americans.
