FAYETTEVILLE – In the most recent release of the USTFCCCA polls (Oct. 5), the University of Arkansas men’s cross country team is ranked No. 6 in the nation. Moving up two spots from last week’s poll, the ranking represents a season-high spot for the Razorbacks.
The move up the national ranking comes despite an idle weekend for Arkansas, which last competed Sept. 25 at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. In that race, the Razorbacks ran to a second-place finish behind top-ranked Stanford and well clear of then-No. 4 Northern Arizona. On the heels of that performance, the Razorbacks vaulted seven spots to No. 8 in the Sept. 28 poll.
Arkansas is the top-ranked Southeastern Conference team with Alabama and Florida at the No. 24 and 30 positions, respectively. Regionally, the Razorbacks remain the top team in the South Central rankings, ahead of Big 12 Conference rivals Texas and Texas A&M.
After two weekends away from competition, the Razorbacks return to the course Oct. 16 for the 22nd Annual Chile Pepper Festival. The men’s 10K race is scheduled for a 9:45 a.m. (CT) start at Agri Park in Fayetteville. For more information, log on to ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
