Senior Pairing Selected For NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – Hours after being named First Team All-SEC by the Southeastern Conference, seniors Mike Redlicki and Jose Salazar were selected as two of the 64 singles players and one of the 32 doubles pairings that will compete in the 2017 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championships announced by the subcommittee Wednesday afternoon.

The singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 24-29 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia, after the conclusion of the team championship, which runs from May 18-23.

On Tuesday, Arkansas was selected to the Fort Worth Regional, playing the Florida State Seminoles on Friday, May 12. It marks the Razorbacks’ second consecutive NCAA Tournament bid for the first time in 14 seasons.

All matches will be the best-of-three sets. No-ad scoring and a 7-point tiebreaker at six-games-all will be used for all matches. In doubles, a 10-point match tiebreaker will be played in lieu of a third set.

The duo ranks as the third best doubles squad in the country after going 10-6 in the spring, 13-7 overall during their final season. Individually, Redlicki heads into championship play ranked as the No. 10 singles player in the country, while Salazar comes in at No. 34. Climbing as high as No. 3, Redlicki spent six straight rankings in the top 10 and never fell further than his preseason ranking of No. 11. Salazar started his senior campaign at No. 45 and rose to as high as No. 19.

Redlicki is 27-10 overall this season, 10-8 this spring. The Duke transfer has faced a ranked opponent in 26 of his 37 matches during his senior campaign, holding a 19-7 overall record and 8-6 during the spring.

Salazar leads the team with a 29-8 overall record, including an impressive 18-5 mark this spring and 9-3 against SEC opponents. The Oklahoma transfer is 8-4 overall against ranked opponents, 6-1 this spring and is 4-1 against ranked SEC foes. Salazar is also 7-2 away from home this season and 5-1 on the road against SEC opponents.
