Smith Advances to Semifinals at UNLV Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Connor Smith defeated Fresno State’s Adam Maxime, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5, Friday in a tough quarterfinal match-up at the UNLV Invitational. The junior netter is the second seed in the flight-two draw and received a first-round bye.

Smith will compete in the semifinals Saturday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas, Nev., looking to earn his first finals appearance this season.

Taylor King, competing in flight one, dropped a straight-sets decision to UNLV’s David Campbell, 6-4, 6-4 in the round of 16. Freshman Nick Spinazze lost to Mario Foelz of Fresno Pacific, 6-3, 7-5, in the round of 16 of flight two.

In doubles action, the Fresno State team of Siddharth Alapati and Flavio Mollinedo beat King and Spinazze, 8-5, in a round of 16 match.
