Soccer Aims to Break Attendance Record

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas soccer is back, and the team needs you at Razorback Field this weekend for its Break the Attendance Record Challenge, and to cheer on the squad in its first two matches of the season.

During the 2014 season, Arkansas broke every attendance record in program history. They shattered the single-game attendance mark when 2,268 supporters witnessed a 2-1 win over Oklahoma St. on Aug. 24. Overall, 12,231 fans filed into Razorback Field in nine home contests, which made for an average crowd of 1,359. Those numbers were a 38.5-percent increase over 2013 and vaulted the Razorbacks up to 13th in the country for women’s soccer attendance.

Beginning this weekend, Arkansas starts its 2015 season with greater aspirations to bring supporters out to cheer on the home team. On Friday, Aug. 21, Stephen F. Austin visits Fayetteville for the season opener at 7 p.m. It will be Big Brother Big Sisters of Northwest Arkansas Night, where any Big receives a voucher to bring them and their Little to the match at no charge. In addition, the Arkansas volleyball team will be signing autographs in the concourse before kickoff.

Then on Sunday, Aug. 23, with TCU coming to town, the Razorbacks hope to break the attendance record for the second consecutive year. Kickoff is at 6 p.m., and you have a chance to be part of history.

The first 200 Arkansas students through the gates get a free Razorback soccer scarf, and one lucky student will win $500 in prize money for textbooks. At halftime, the “Best in Sight and Sound,” the Razorback Marching Band will perform along with the Arkansas Spirit Squad and Mascots. It will be the first performance of the season and you don’t want to miss what they have in store.

Fans can purchase tickets in advance online HERE or by calling 1-800-982-HOGS. The $25 season ticket package includes admission to all 10 home games and a 2015 Razorback soccer scarf. Tickets can also be purchased at the Razorback Field box office, which opens 90 minutes before kickoff on game days.
