Soccer Earns Four-Seed Ahead Of SEC Tournament

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – With the regular season now behind it, the 22^nd-ranked Razorback soccer team heads to Orange Beach, Alabama this weekend in preparation of the 2018 SEC Tournament and will be the fourth-seeded team with its first match set for Tuesday against five-seed Ole Miss.

First kick between Arkansas and Ole Miss is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Orange Beach Sportsplex and all games of the tournament will be televised on the SEC Network.

Arkansas ended the regular season with an 11-4-3 record overall and a 6-3-1 record in conference play. The 19 points accumulated in SEC play by the Razorbacks was good for a tie for third in the standings and also tied for its highest conference finish in program history.

The Razorbacks won six conference matches this season, including earning seven of 10 results. Four of those results were earned by way of a shutout (at Alabama, vs. Missouri, vs. Kentucky, at No. 25 Mississippi St.) and Arkansas finished the year with six shutouts overall.

Since Colby Hale became the head coach at Arkansas in 2013, the Razorbacks have only missed the SEC Tournament one time (2015).
With 11 wins going into the conference tournament, Arkansas has secured its tenth 10-win season in school history and fourth under Hale.
Tuesday’s quarterfinal match will be the second time Arkansas has faced Ole Miss this season, the last coming on Oct. 7, a 3-1 win for the Rebels in Oxford.
This will be the second-straight year Arkansas has opened the SEC Tournament against Ole Miss. The Razorbacks won last year’s match, 1-0, to advance out of the first round.
Arkansas is in search of its first SEC Tournament championship in program history. This will be its 12^thappearance overall and third straight.
The Razorbacks have reached the SEC Tournament finals four times in their history, including each of the last two years. The four finals appearances ties for the fourth most in the SEC.
Last year, Arkansas was the lowest-seeded to team to ever make the tournament final, playing four matches in eight days before falling to two-seed Texas A&M, 2-1, in the championship.
