Soccer adds Hallauer to fall roster

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Lauren Hallauer has been added to the University of Arkansas Lady Razorback soccer team, head coach Gordon Henderson announced on Friday.

Hallauer enters Arkansas as a sophomore after playing one season at Ohio State University and could factor significantly in the Lady Razorbacks’ plans for the fall season.

“Obviously the fact that she played and started as a freshman is impressive,” Arkansas head coach Gordon Henderson said. “The quality of soccer played at Ohio State is impressive and speaks volumes about Lauren’s ability and potential impact on our program. She was a highly sought after prospect in high school and it was no surprise to me that she had the year that she had at Ohio State. She is quick, good in the air and technically sound with the ball at her feet. I think that she will fit in very well to our system of play and look forward to her being a contributor this fall.”

Hallauer was a starter for the Buckeyes last season as a true freshman, playing in all 23 games and recording a team high 2,105 minutes on the pitch. She took just two shots from her defensive position, but her impact and focus was not on the offensive side of the ball. Her skills as a defender were critical in the Buckeye’s run to the Big Ten Championship game and first round of the NCAA Tournament. With Hallauer playing in the backfield, the Buckeyes surrendered just 29 goals over their 23 games and posted seven shutouts including one stretch of three straight in early September.

Prior to attending Ohio State, Hallauer was a standout player for both Robinson High School and the FCV Rockets in Virginia. At Robinson she was a three-year starter and earned all-district, region and state honors. She served as Robinson’s captain her senior season. With the FCV Rockets, Hallauer was teammates with current Lady Razorbacks Ally Atkins, Kelly O’Connor and Claire Hakim and the crew helped that team to the US Club Regional Championship in 2006 as well as the U16 Region I Premier Championship. Hallauer has also been a participant of the Super Y League National Camp.

Hallauer and the rest of the Lady Razorbacks start their fall preparations in August. For more information regarding Lady Razorback soccer or University of Arkansas athletics please visit www.ladybacks.com.
