Softball hosts final fall tournament

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas softball team wraps up the 2007 fall season Saturday with the Lady’Back Fall Invitational. The Lady Razorbacks welcome Missouri State, Oklahoma State and Rogers State to Lady’Back Yard for the all-day tournament. Arkansas kicks off the Lady’Back Invitational with the 9 a.m. game against Rogers State. The Lady’Backs face Oklahoma State at 3 p.m. and Missouri State in the nightcap at 7 p.m. Admission is free to the public. “This weekend is a great opportunity to get competition against Division I opponents,” said head coach Jamie Pinkerton. “Having these teams come in, we’ll see where we’re at and mature a little more. It will be a good measuring stick to go into the spring season.” Arkansas enters the tournament with an 8-0 fall record. The Lady’Backs also have a team batting average of .301, a fielding percentage of .963 and a 0.56 ERA. The Lady’Backs are led by sophomore Sandra Smith who is hitting .471 with two home runs, four doubles, 10 RBIs and five runs. Sophomore Jessica Bachkora is hot on her tail batting .444 with 12 hits, one double, four RBIs, 10 runs and six stolen bases. Missouri State finished the 2007 season with a 21-29 record.
