FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas softball team hosts Tulsa in a single game fall scrimmage Saturday at noon at Bogle Park. Arkansas is in the midst of a seven-date, eight-game fall schedule and head coach Mike Larabee and the Razorbacks are out to a 2-0 start. As a result of Saturday’s contest becoming a single date (instead of the double-header) the Razorbacks added a second date with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Sunday, Oct. 2. Arkansas defeated NEO A&M, 4-2, in the first meeting this fall. “This is a great chance to see where we stack up against a team that was pretty good last year,” Larabee said. “Our competition improves with each game and it is a great chance to see the growth of the team over the fall schedule.” Arkansas had had good performances from several players this fall. The Razorbacks have hit three home runs in the fall. Katie Harrison hit a two-run home run over the left field wall in the first game against NEO A&M. Devon Wallace ripped a two-out, three-run shot over the right field fence giving Arkansas a 3-0 lead. Harrison hit her second of the fall scoring two in the third inning last week. In the team’s most recent game freshmen Victoria Brown and Kimmy Beasley combined for the win allowing just three hits and one unearned run. The duo struck out five and only issued one walk in seven innings. The Razorbacks return to the diamond Wednesday hosting Eastern Oklahoma State at 5 p.m. followed by a double header with Oklahoma State Saturday, Oct. 1, as the fall season continues.
