Solomon Haile earns weekly accolade

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – For the second time this season, Arkansas Razorback Solomon Haile, a member of the men’s cross country team, has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman Runner of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

With a 17th-place finish from Haile, the No. 17 Arkansas Razorback men’s cross country team finished fourth in the team standings at the 8,000-meter Wisconsin adidas Invitational on Saturday.

For the second meet of his young career, Haile was Arkansas’ top finisher. He clocked a time of 24:25.2, finishing 17th overall, second among SEC runners and fifth among all freshmen runners. He was also the top SEC freshman finisher.

Haile also earned weekly honors on Sept. 22 for his eighth-place finish at the Missouri Southern Stampede where he was the top freshman finisher, by 20 seconds, with his time of 24:01.79. He finished eighth overall and fifth among collegians.

The Razorbacks will compete next when they host the Chile Pepper Festival, Sat., Oct. 17.
