Southern Intercollegiate Championship Run Ends In Finals

Results

ATHENS, Ga. – A trio of Razorbacks competed on the final day of the Southern Intercollegiate Championships on Monday as Enrique Paya fell in the Division II Singles finals, while Oscar Mesquida and Adam Sanjurjo dropped their final match in the Division I Doubles Finals.

After an impressive run to the finals, Paya dropped his final matchup to Daniel Groom of UNC Wilmington in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. The first set loss was the first loss of the tournament for Paya, as he advanced throughout the bracket in straight-sets until the final.

Mesquida and Sanjurjo topped Alvaro Regaldo and Zach Whaanga of Columbus State 8-5 in the semifinals in their first matchup of the day. The duo faced Henry Patten and Oli Nolan of UNC Asheville in the finals, taking the first set 6-4, before dropping the final two 6-3 and 10-8.
