Spearmon Gay Lead 200M Field at USA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Wallace Spearmon and Tyson Gay clocked the second and third-fastest qualifying times in the opening round of the 200M, respectively, on day four of the 2006 AT&T USA Outdoor Championships, in Indianapolis, Ind., on Saturday.

Spearmon clocked a 20.61 to win the first heat and Gay won the third heat with a time of 20.46. Adidas’ Jeremy Wariner won the preliminaries with his time of 20.28. Of the field of 21, 16, including the two former Hogs, will contest the semifinals and eight will qualify for the finals of the event on Sunday.

Also on Sunday, Adam Perkins will compete in the finals of the 1500M and former distance runner Daniel Lincoln will look to earn the 2006 title in the 3000M steeplechase.
