FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas head coach John Pelphrey and members of the Razorback men’s basketball team delivered 100 pizzas to students camping out on Stadium Drive for Saturday’s football game at 11 p.m. on Thursday night.
This is the second year in a row that Pelphrey has delivered pizzas to students camping out for a football game. Last season he brought pizzas to campers in frigid weather prior to Arkansas’ on-campus showdown with No. 17 Auburn in early October. The Razorback football team went on to win the contest 44-23.
"The one thing that makes Arkansas fans so tremendous is their passion for the Razorbacks," Pelphrey said after the delivery. "Some of these students began camping on Monday for Saturday’s game and the line of tents has grown every day. Anything that we can do as a team to keep these students going for the final two days is well worth it."
The special delivery was met with cheers from campers who greeted Pelphery and his team to claim their prize. Starting at the Southeast corner of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, the Razorbacks walked down Stadium Drive handing boxes to students who stopped the Razorbacks to take pictures and chat.
