Spring season around the corner for Hog soccer

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Under the direction of new head coach Erin Aubry, the Razorback soccer team returns to the pitch for the first time in 2009 for the start of its spring season. Arkansas opens its spring schedule with an alumni game Saturday, March 28, at Razorback Field. The contest is set for a noon start and is open to the public.

The Arkansas spring roster features 22 players with the addition of transfers Kelsey Allison and Laurel Pastor. The rest of the Razorback lineup is comprised of returners from last season’s team, including the team’s group of four soon-to-be-seniors, Kat Moffett, Kathleen Paulsen, Kim Schleif and Sophie Wentz. Over half of Arkansas’ returning roster has experience as a starter.

This weekend’s match will feature recent familiar faces, including Megan Fawley, Lindsay Patterson, Rachel Smith and Abbey Wilburn, all of whom were members of the 2008 team. In total, 18 former Arkansas soccer players will be in attendance to participate in this spring season kick off.

After the weekend alumni game, the Razorbacks hit the road for a pair of off-season matchups. Arkansas travels to Norman, Okla., for an April 4 meeting with Oklahoma followed by a matchup at Kansas on April 11. The Razorbacks close out their spring schedule with two home dates. The Red-White Scrimmage will be held April 17 with the spring closing with an April 25 match against Missouri State. All home games will be played at Razorback Field.

Following the team’s matchup with Missouri State, the Razorbacks will host a youth soccer clinic beginning at approximately 3 p.m. For more details about the youth clinic and Hog soccer, visit ArkansasRazorbacks.com
