Arkansas signed two players for next season – 6-1, 175-pound guard Sean McCurdy of St. Anthony’s in New Jersey; and 6-9, 235-pound center Cyrus McGowan of Meridian (Miss.) High School. McCurdy averaged 15.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists as a junior. His team went 30-0 and earned a No. 2 final ranking by USA Today. McGowan averaged 10.5 points, 9.2 rebounds and 3.9 blocked shots as a junior. Following is a partial transcript of head coach Stan Heath’s press conference. “We’re thrilled about this recruiting class. We’ve been waiting by the fax to get in the paperwork back on both of them. We have everyone returning next year except for one senior (Michael Jones) so we wanted to find guys that would fill voids and take care of some of our needs. With almost everyone back next year, it gives us the chance to groom someone for the future.
