Stan Heath Press Conference Red-White Game

Stan Heath Press Conference Red-White Game
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas begins its basketball season on Friday with the 7 p.m. Red-White Game in Bud Walton Arena.

The Red team is made up of Michael Jones, Wenbos Mukubu, Billy Pharis, Brandan Hudspeth, Jonathon Modica, Alonzo Lane and Jamar Blackmon. The White team includes Carl Baker, Eric Ferguson, Kendrick Davis, Rashard Sullivan, Blake Eddins, Dionisio Gomez, Larry Satchell. Assistants Rob Flaska and Oronde Taliaferro are coaching the Red team while Byron Boudreaux and director of basketball operations Darren Sorenson are coaching the White squad.

Following is a partial transcript of head coach Stan Heath’s press conference regarding the game:

“We’re making progress. That seems to be the normal statement for this team. We’re starting to move the ball around offensively and execute in the halfcourt. The guys are really picking it up defensively. If we do that and limit teams to one shot, we’ll have a chance to be successful.”

The Red-White Game:

“I’m looking forward to it. I’ve never had something like this scheduled. We have two weeks under our belt with our offensive and defensive concepts. I’m looking forward to seeing how they respond in front of a crowd.

“I want to see Eric Ferguson and Kendrick Davis play together because we’ll see a lot of those guys throughout the season. I like the presence Larry Satchell gives us at center, but the last few practices Alonzo Lane has really come on. Rashard Sullivan comes on every time the ball goes up, so I want to see him in game situations.

“I’m looking to see if a few guys can give more. I want to see what Alonzo Lane can give in a game situation. Larry Satchell and Rashard Sullivan, I’m looking at our big men. I’m also looking at our guard play. I want to see if they take care of the ball and make good decisions.

“This is our first test. We have positions that are open. It gives us a chance to do something in a public forum.”
