FAYETTEVILLE – Each Monday during the summer, www.ArkansasRazorbacks.com will recap the previous week of summer action for @RazorbackMGolf as members of the team play in some of the best tournaments around the country, while keeping up with all the #ProHOGS on tour. This week’s #RazorRewind focuses on recent graduate Sebastian Cappelen’s win at the Web.com Tour’s Air Capital Classic in his pro debut.
Playing just miles away from Prairie Dunes Country Club where he finished tied for ninth at the 2014 NCAA Championships just weeks ago, Cappelen sandwiched a pair of four-under 66s around a pair of five-under 65s in the second and third rounds, respectively, en route to finishing 18-under par for the one-stroke win.
Cappelen’s memorable week began with him earning Golfweek All-America second team status just hours prior to his tee time at the Monday qualifier for the Air Capital Classic. Cappelen went on to survive a seven-man playoff for one of the three qualifying spots and just two days later earned the seventh All-American honor of his career from PING.
With the win at the Air Capital Classic, Cappelen earned a spot on the Web.com Tour through 2015, and debuted at No. 15 on the tour’s money list.
